Colorado is one of the most scenic states in the United States. Embark on a unique journey through typical cities of the Wild West with the panorama of the majestic Rocky Mountains.
Regardless of whether you want to slide through the famous “powder snow” in the first-class ski resorts of the Rocky Mountains, explore the numerous cities and towns or enjoy the breathtaking beauty of nature – in Colorado you are guaranteed to find your perfect adventure. From the wide prairie to the majestic mountains and from rushing rivers to desert landscapes, the highest state of America reveals an incredible flora and fauna, diverse natural wonders, as well as a rich cultural heritage and authentic Indian art.
Ski State Colorado
When you think of Colorado, you think of winter – and rightly so. The heavy snowfall in Colorado’s often stubborn winters is responsible for the legendary “powder”, this uniquely soft, light, almost airy powder snow that seems to be made for skiing. Unlike in Europe, the slopes in Colorado’s ski areas are much more open and largely unprepared, so you can enjoy unique deep snow runs. With award-winning ski resorts such as Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge and Telluride, you will find the best skiing conditions in Colorado in the USA!
Beyond the great expanse
Of course, Colorado is not only attractive in the winter months. Even though almost everything here is overshadowed by the Rockies, Colorado has a rich history and hip urban attractions, such as the lively metropolis of Denver. The former Cow Town nowadays is adorned with iconic sports arenas, a vibrant downtown area and modern meeting places. The nearby university towns of Boulder and Fort Colins inspire in a unique landscape with student-like, cosmopolitan flair. South of the Arkansas River you will find traces of Colorado’s Mexican past – the architecturally masterful rock dwellings of the Anasazi natives in the Mesa Verde National Park are particularly impressive.
High, higher, Colorado
The mountain state of Colorado has the highest concentration of 4,000-meter peaks in the entire United States. From the front range, the Rocky Mountains roll west through the Rocky Mountain National Park and make their mark on the Colorado landscape. But not only the mountains, also the sprawling valleys, the professionally constructed mountain passes, which will give you breathtaking views, the mesas, the many canyons, such as in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the endless hiking trails, the fascinating mountain bike Routes and the remote mountain lakes in wild nature – are Colorado!

Festivals & Events in Colorado
The ESPN Winter X-Games
Aspen / Snowmass, January 25-28, 2018: The Winter X-Games have been taking place on Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen / Snowmass since 2002. The extreme sports festival offers action-packed sports competitions, lots of live music and a unique festival experience. Best of all: admission to sporting events is free!
Frozen Dead Guy Days
Nederland, March 9th – 11th, 2018: In 1989 a Norwegian brought his recently deceased grandfather to the USA in dry ice and well preserved. That should probably make a revival possible in the future. When the son’s visa expired after a few years and he had to leave the USA, the bizarre story became public. Instead of condemning the man, in the town of Nederland, half an hour west of Boulder, 2018 is celebrating what is probably the most shrill festival in the world for the 17th time: The Frozen Dead Guy Days.
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Colorado Springs, June 24, 2018: 19.99 kilometers, 156 turns, 1,439 m difference in altitude, 7% average gradient – the goal: the summit. These are the impressive numbers of the “Race To The Clouds”, the mountain race for racing cars and motorcycles in the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Be there when the daring drivers fight for the title of mountain king!
Cattlemen’s Days
Gunnison, June 2018: Cowboys and cowgirls pay attention: Cattlemen’s Days is one of the most traditional rodeo events in the USA. Already at the end of the 19th century, the cowboys demonstrated their skills with lasso and on horseback during the period between calving cattle in spring and hay harvesting in summer. This tradition is still alive today in the form of the annual Cattlemen’s Days.
Colorado State Fair
Pueblo, August 24 – September 03, 2018: Although Colorado officially became the state of the United States in 1876, the Colorado State Fair has been celebrated since around 2,000 people met in what was then Pueblo in 1869 for a horse exhibition. Today it has grown into one of the largest professional rodeo events in the state, including hype, music concerts and much more!
