Chicago is famous for its renowned museums. These include the Art Institute of Chicago with the world’s largest collection of works by French Impressionists such as Monet or Renoir. You can also see works by Picasso and de Kooning in the modern museum wing. Also worth seeing is the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum Campus with the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. The largest science museum in the western hemisphere is also located in Chicago – the Museum of Science and Industry.

The breathtaking Millennium Park in the northwest corner of Grant Park with its almost 40m high silver concert shell and many garden restaurants is a kind of open-air museum for modern design. Free concerts take place here regularly. In winter there is a skating rink in Millennium Park. Grant Park itself is reminiscent of Versailles and has the world’s largest fountain – the Buckingham Fountain. The historic Route 66 starts nearby.

Night owls can end the day in numerous blues and jazz clubs or in one of the many partly award-winning theaters in the Downtown Theater District.
