The “Great Lakes State”, as Michigan is also called, is the only state bordering four of the large lakes: Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Superior and Lake Erie. The Michigan area is divided into two parts by Lake Michigan, which are only connected by the Mackinac Bridge. The northern half consists largely of untouched nature.
