Old St. Peter’s Landmark in The Dallas
The Old St. Peter’s Landmark, former Roman Catholic Church was built from 1897 to 18998 and has no longer served as a church since 1968. In 1971 it was saved from demolition. The church in the Gothic Revival style consists largely of red bricks and the church tower reaches a height of approx. 54 m. The stained glass of the church is particularly impressive and so it is not surprising that the church is still a popular place for wedding ceremonies.

Salem First United Methodist Church
The Salem First United Methodist Church was built from 1871 to 1878, making it the oldest Methodist church west of the Rocky Mountains. The church is built in the Gothic Revival style and this is quite rare outside of Portland. The exterior of the church is particularly impressive due to the red bricks in the sunshine.

Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales in Baker City
The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales in the city of Baker City was built from 1906 to 1908. The specialty of the cathedral is the building material. It was built from the region’s volcanic tufa. The window paintings of the church were gradually installed and today the interior of the church is bathed in a pleasant blue.

Congregation Beth Israel in Portland
The Congregation Beth Israel in the city of Portland was built from 1926 to 1928 and the architectural style of the synagogue mixes oriental influences with Gothic ones. The design of the synagogue was inspired by the old synagogue in Essen.

Portland Oregon Temple
The Portland Oregon Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), opened in 1989. The property of the temple covers an area of approx. 28,000 m². The appearance of the temple is determined by the 6 white pointed columns.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the city of Ashland has been held annually from February to October since 1935. During this time, various pieces are performed, but not all of them are Shakespeare pieces. The performances at the Elizabethan Theater, the background of which is a replica of the famous Globe Theater, are particularly interesting. In total, the listed pieces attract up to 400,000 visitors.

Oregon State Fair in Salem
The Oregon State Fair is the official fair of the state of Oregon. The Oregon State Fair takes place annually (exceptions 1905 and 1942-1944) at the end of August in early September, and has been since 1858. In addition to all sorts of shops that try to sell their handicrafts, there are also animal exhibitions, musical performances and of course every one Lot of food.

Pendleton Round-Up
The Pendleton Round-Up in the city of Pendleton is an annual rodeo tournament. The Pendleton Round-Up has a long tradition and was first held in 1910. The Pendleton Round-Up opens with the solemn entry into the “Arena”, where the flags of the USA, Oregon and Canada are presented. The Pendleton Round-Up lasts one week and during this competition takes place in different rodeo categories. The Pendleton Round-Up attracts over 50,000 visitors.

The Oregon International Air Show has been held at Hillsboro Airport since 1988. Today, the Oregon International Air Show, held annually in August, is the largest air show on the west coast of the United States. Classical Chinese Garden in Portland
The Classical Chinese Garden in the city of Portland was opened in 2000 in Portland’s Chinatown district. The garden covers an area of approximately 4,000 m² and most plants are of Chinese origin, but not imported. Some of the plants live to be over 100 years old.

Oregon Zoo in Portland
The Oregon Zoo in the city of Portland was founded in 1887 and is located in Washington Park. Nowadays, the Oregon Zoo is home to approximately 2,200 animals from over 260 species and covers an area of approximately 260,000 m². The zoo is thematically divided into the exhibitions Africa Rainforest, Africa Savanna, Predators of the Serengeti, Amazon Flooded Forest, Asian Elephants, Bears, Dinosaurs and Great Northwest.

Oaks Amusement Park in Portland
The Oaks Amusement Park in the city of Portland was opened in 1905 and is a rather small amusement park with 180,000 m². In addition to the other rides, there is a historic wooden roller skating rink here. In contrast to the park, it is open all year round.

Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport
The Oregon Coast Aquarium in the city of Newport was opened in 1992 and covers an area of 9,300 m². The Oregon Coast Aquarium is considered one of the best aquariums in the United States and is also known for its film. From 1996 to 1998 the Orca Whale Keiko lived here, who achieved worldwide fame with the film Free Willy. Of course, the Oregon Coast Aquarium has a lot more to offer and if you have the chance you shouldn’t miss a visit.

National parks
Crater Lake National Park
The Crater Lake National Park is a 741 km² national park near the city of Medford in southern Oregon. The national park has existed since 1902 and today includes the volcano Mount Mazama and of course Crater Lake. This is located in the caldera (cup-shaped depression) of Mount Mazama and is the deepest lake in the USA with a maximum depth of 594 m. In the middle of the lake, which covers an area of 53 km², is the island of Wizard Island, which is the top of the volcano, where boat tours are offered. Other interesting sights include the formations called Pinnacles made of solidified and eroded ash. There are also other mountains in the park that want to be climbed and hiking is highly recommended on the many hiking trails in the park. Those who prefer less effort can rest easy, because the so-called Rim Drive can also be easily circled by car. There are several campsites and lodges in the park.

Forest Park of Tualatin Mountains near Portland
The Forest Park of Tualatin Mountains is located in the same mountains west of Portland. The Forest Park of Tualatin Mountains is an urban park and with an area of approximately 21 km² one of the largest in the USA. There are numerous hiking trails in the park with a total length of 110 km. This, together with the flora and fauna, make the Forest Park a popular recreational opportunity.
Smith Rock State Park
Smith Rock State Park is centrally located in Oregon near the city of Redmond and was founded in 1959. The park covers an area of approximately 2.5 km and is known for its rock formations. The tufa is particularly colorful and the main attraction of the park is Monkey Face, an approx. 100 m high rock column that reminds of a monkey head. But that’s not all. The park is one of the best climbing destinations in the United States. Sport climbing is said to have started here in the USA. If you don’t want to climb, you shouldn’t miss the hiking trails.
