This park is part of the huge entertainment complex Six Flags Great Adventure, which was opened in 1974 by the American restaurateur Warner Leroy. There are 11 theme areas in this park in total. Interestingly, Leroy had been hatching a plan for the construction of the complex for quite a long time and, as a result, was able to fulfill his dream in two years. The construction of the safari park was carried out by Hardwick Industries, which had previously carried out similar work in Canada and Europe.
As a rule, all visitors, young and old, are indescribably delighted when they watch animals. In a safari park, this can be done from a very close distance while in the car. Some animals are happy to communicate with people – look into the windows of cars, show a special interest in photo and video cameras. Only lions are kept in cages. Monkeys have recently also been unable to get close to visitors. These animals were too intrusive to tourists, and the park staff decided to isolate them.
Don’t forget to take your camera – many animals are happy to pose for tourists. For your favorite treat, of course.
You can go to the Wild Safari Park on your own or with an excursion group. As a rule, a special tour includes bus travel, services of a Russian-speaking guide, and breakfast.
Opening hours: April – November: all days of the week. Entrance: 34.99 USD, children under two years old are free. When buying tickets online, you can save up to 25 USD.

Colgate watch
Colgate watch (USA) – description, history, location. Exact address, phone number, website. Reviews of tourists, photos and videos.
Among all the sights of New Jersey, one of the most memorable and recognizable can be called the giant Colgate clock. The octagonal model in the center of Jersey City appeared quite a long time ago – back in 1924. These chimes are located on the banks of the Hudson River, in front of Manhattan. It is interesting that before that time there were already similar clocks. They were built in 1906 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the world famous Colgate company. The author was a company engineer, Warren Day. The old clock was a gift to the people of Indiana. Since then, thousands of tourists around the world have commemorative photographs of this huge clock in the background. By the way, the dimensions of the attraction are impressive – 50 feet in diameter, the length of the arrows – 25 and 20 feet. This is one of the largest clocks in the world. The frame is made of structural steel, a special stainless alloy was used for the arrows. An impressive 20-foot Colgate sign is installed near the landmark, so that there is no doubt about which company the watch belongs to. By the way, they have long been the hallmark of Jersey City.
Some meticulous Americans began to wonder if this watch is running correctly? To dispel all doubts of citizens, the accuracy of the walkers was checked at the Naval Observatory in Washington.
An interesting fact: some meticulous Americans began to wonder if this watch is running correctly? To dispel all doubts of citizens, the accuracy of the walkers was checked at the Naval Observatory in Washington. By the way, for the full operation of the Colgate watch, 28 volt batteries are required, which are constantly recharged.
Near the clock “Colgate” there is another interesting attraction – a hundred meters away is the Goldman Sachs tower. It is the tallest skyscraper in New Jersey.
The watch looks most spectacular in the evening when the backlight turns on. In order for Colgate to be perfectly visible from afar, 1600 light bulbs are used! From the city’s coastline, they can be seen for 20 miles. Interestingly, the watch is made in the shape of an octagon for a reason. This is exactly what the soap of this company looked like. Initially, Colgate made only scented soaps, candles, and starches. A little later, the production of perfumes, essences and toothpaste was mastered.
A similar clock, but smaller, is installed in the Colgate office building in Washington, DC. In 1985, the company’s eight-story office was moved to another location, so the building behind the clock was demolished. Today, the chimes remind the locals of the time when various factories were located along the coastline.
In the mid-20th century, Colgate faced the problem of poor sales due to a glut of toothpaste. Day and night, factory management, along with consultants, puzzled over how to increase sales. However, the owners rejected all ideas and suggestions. Desperate, one of the managers went to the shop and asked a question to the first worker he came across. Without thinking twice, the worker replied that it was only necessary to increase the diameter of the hole from which the paste came out by 20 percent, and, accordingly, sales would increase by exactly 20 percent. This turned out to be the right decision – such a tube was not enough for two weeks, but only for eight days.
